STUDENTS
IN CLIMATE CHANGE
Students at
SNEH International School actively participated in a series of activities
undertaken as a part of an international project initiated by Greece for the
changes and effects of climate change for the students and the education
‘Climate Action Now - We Can’t Wait’.
Students made
pollution detectors which were placed at different locations such as near a
park, inside their rooms and along a roadside, and they were terrified to
observe the high levels of pollution in our city during winter.
They also made
collages suggesting solutions to cope with the extreme weather conditions faced
by Delhites due to Global Warming resulting in heat and cold waves to flood
situations during monsoon and rising AQI levels across 600 leading to pollution
break. This activity alarmed everyone with the current scenario and encouraged
all to be future-ready.
To create
awareness about increasing pollution levels in Delhi during winter and the
problem of Smog that people face every year students made posters. Students
also surveyed the health issues faced by elderly people due to pollution and
how they cope with the same. The elderly guided students on how can they
maintain good health using simple tips and kitchen spices. All the information
gathered was displayed in the form of posters and collages.
On Earth Day,
the Principal Ms Komal flagged off the rally organised by the students. They
marched in the neighborhood raising slogans and placards creating awareness
about climate change, urging reducing carbon footprints, and enforcing
sustainable development. Students from the Eco Club made beautiful placards
using recycled paper made in the school itself. They also
wrote essays and articles on issues related to Climate Change like sustainable
development, reducing carbon footprints, alternatives to single-use plastic,
etc.
They
distributed pamphlets to the public about climate change. A special assembly
was conducted where a student recited a beautiful poem about planet vs plastic
focussing on the ill effects of plastic on our mother earth and how it is
becoming a major cause of concern for the entire world. Students of the primary
wing presented a beautiful street play creating awareness about water
conservation and the urgency to conserve it.
